Justice for Han Comment by Hobbs & Shaw Writer is criticized by Michelle Rodriguez

Chris Morgan’s remark regarding “Justice for Han” in Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw has drawn criticism from Michelle Rodriguez. Han, a cool-as-a-cucumber driver, first appeared in The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift in 2006 as Sung Kung.

Before Fast & Furious 6’s mid-credits scene caught up to Tokyo Drift in the timeline and revealed that Han had, in fact, been killed by future Furious Seven villain Deckard Shaw, he would go on to appear in the next three Fast & Furious films (Jason Statham).

However, it wasn’t until 2017’s The Fate of the Furious that the phrase “Justice for Han” was really coined. The scene where Shaw shakes hands with Dominic Toretto’s character,

Hobbs & Shaw, the year’s spinoff movie, further develops the latter into a misunderstood antihero and includes a sentence that, according to writer Morgan, alludes to the notion that “Justice for Han” is on the way. But it seems like that’s a little deceptive.

Rodriguez criticized Morgan’s remarks on Twitter and the suggestion that he was somehow engaged in bringing Han “Justice”.

For those not familiar, Hobbs & Shaw as well as Morgan penned the last six mainline Fast & Furious films beginning with Tokyo Drift (which he wrote with Drew Pearce).

Contrarily, Rodriguez, who has been a part of the Fast & Furious movies from the beginning, has acknowledged having problems with the way Fate of the Furious handled Han’s passing during the making of the movie.

She is by no means the only person to be critical of Hobbs & Shaw’s hint that “Justice for Han” is on the way. The spinoff has also been under fire for its attempts to retcon Shaw’s background and portray him in a more complicated light while (in essence) ignoring the fact that he killed numerous people, Han included, in the opening sequence of Fast & Furious 6 and Furious Seven alone.

Furthermore, it’s important to note that Morgan was unable to write Fast & Furious 9 alone due to his obligations to Hobbs & Shaw. This fact supports Rodriguez’s claim that he has “absolutely nothing” to do with the way the film is attempting to deliver Han “Justice.”

Rodriguez has previously been unafraid to express her disapproval of the Fast & Furious series, and she even played a role in securing the series’ first female writer for Fast & Furious 9.

She might be more responsible for how the movie pays tribute to Han than other veteran Fast & Furious creators, in other words.Fans can find solace in the knowledge that “Justice for Han” will appear in Fast & Furious 9. (and for real this time).
