‘Please don’t retire’: Chiefs fans not ready for Itu Khune to leave yet

South African football player Itumeleng “Ito” Khune has certainly reached legendary status. After 20 illustrious years in football, he is still wowing his millions of fans with videos of his fitness regime. In fact, his workouts are so impressive that many are begging him not to retire just yet. According to them, the 36-year-old still has what it takes as both goalkeeper and captain of Kaizer Chiefs.

Unfortunately for them – their plights come as the footballer heads into his final season of the game.

Fans not ready for Ito Khune to bow out of the game

Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Ito Khune appears to be doing something right when it comes to his fitness and workout routines.

The esteemed football player headed online earlier this week to share a clip of his strict workout routine and left his fans in complete awe.

Just a few weeks earlier, Former Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Brighton Mhlongo praised Itu’s team Kaizer Chiefs for the way they are handling his upcoming retirement.

This after the team revealed that Khune “will be transitioning to the coaching space and ambassadorial role” during his final season.

“First and foremost credit must go to Kaizer Chiefs because I’ve always there are certain things that certain teams fail to handle properly,” said Brighton in a SABC Sport article.

Fans don’t want him to leave

While Khune still appears to have a pretty bright future ahead of him following his last year as goalkeeper, his fans don’t want him off the field.

Many of them have pleaded with him to hold on to his soccer boots for just a bit longer.

“Please don’t retire at the end of this season, bro. You haven’t reached 40 years yet,” one person commented under his clip.
