Pretoria boys reunite? Calls for Dricus du Plessis to train Elon Musk

Mixed-martial arts (MMA) fans have more than one fight to look forward to. Not only is Dricus du Plessis going head to head against his nemesis Israel Adesanya, but so is fellow South African Elon Musk and his social media rival, Mark Zuckerberg.

And social media users are calling on Dricus to train fellow Pretoria-born boy Elon. This after Dricus’s opponent Israel aka “Izzy,” was pictured in the gym with Zuckerberg this week.

Like Dricus and Izzy, Elon and Mark have taken their differences to social media.

On Tuesday, 11 July, Israel Adesanya posted a pic of him training alongside Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and fellow UFC fighter Alex Volanovski.

He captioned the pic: “No fugazi [fake] with Mark. This is serious business!”.

Mark shared the same pics on his Instagram, captioning the pics: “It’s an honour to train with you guys.”

It’s no secret that Elon and Mark have a hot rivalry over their social media businesses, Twitter and Facebook. This was intensified with Mark’s new popular platform, Threads.

The duo are set to face off in the ring on a date which has yet to be announced. Meanwhile, Dricus du Plessis and Israel Adesanya will go head-to-head on 10 September in Sydney, Australia.

Following the pics, social media users are calling on Izzy’s opponent Dricus du Plessis, to train Mark’s future opponent Elon Musk.

And the duo could have plenty to talk about, given their roots in Pretoria, SA.

However, Elon has to put in the work to get to Dricus’s level. Unlike the Twitter CEO, Mark has experience in combat fighting after winning two medals at a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competition earlier this year.
